Clinical Human Factors Group runs first Open Seminar

Posted by

This week we supported the CHFG to run its first “Open Seminar”. The event was hosted by Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Trust and sponsored by the Health Foundation and the Medical Protection Society.

More than 90 policy makers, practitioners, clinicians and managers from all over the UK gathered to share experiences and insights around projects and programmes focussed on human factors in healthcare.

I was also delighted to have been invited to speak at the event focussing on creating lasting change in complex systems.

The atmosphere was one of palpable collaboration although Tony Giddings, a retired surgeon and former council member of the Royal College of Surgeons, paying tribute to the leadership of Martin Bromiley, Chair of the CHFG in his closing remarks, also reminded participants of the significant challenges that lie ahead in the campaign for a more open and honest culture in healthcare.

Over the next 9 months we will be supporting CHFG to grow its network and influence through the development and delivery of an integrated campaign strategy.
